I am grateful for having been invited to share about CMF Design to students at Georgia Tech College of Design. This was an online sharing back in November 2021.

The audience for this 40-minute sharing were first-year design school students who have not yet chosen their path, and therefore the agenda was: What is CMF, Why do we need CMF, and How to pursue a CMF path?

The content was purposefully designed this way to cover all the basics of CMF Design without going into details. It was more important for these 1-year students to get a glance of CMF Design and being able to evaluate if they find this field interesting and if this is the right path for them.

Thanks to Professor Roger Ball for the invitation! Look forward to more to come 🙌

I think it was about 40ish students in this class. COVID has really push the evolution of hybrid teaching!
Basics of CMF: multiple manufacturing processes can be used to produce the exact same visual look.
Basics of CMF: the diverse responsibilities of CMF Design.
You don’t have to excel in all of them, but you can always find something that you’re in love with.
Basics of CMF: a small camera detail can be executed via so many different manufacturing processes!
Of course, there are also lots of portfolio strategy and cost reason behind it.
